Donna Zephrine

Donna was born in Harlem New York and grew up in Bay Shore, Long island.    I went to Brentwood High School.    I graduated from Columbia University School of Social Work in May 2017 and I presently work for the New York State Office of Mental Health at Pilgrim Psychiatric Center Outpatient SOCR (State Operated Community Residence).   I am a combat veteran who did two tours in Iraq.  I was on Active duty Army stationed at Hunter Army Airfield 3rd Infantry Division.  My job in the military was a mechanic.  I have participated in various writing workshops such as the veterans writing workshop at Fordham Lincoln Center and have been recently published in an anthology book entitled “Afterwords”.    I was also published in New York University’s Veteran’s Writers workshop’s anthology entitled “9 lives”, Bards Annual 2017, The Local Gem Press, War Writer’s Campaign and Blogground.  She is also a contributing member to other writing workshops, the Voices from War and Project 9 Line workshop.  Currently Donna is studying for her licensing in social work but tries to continue with her creative writing whenever she can.  She also is involved in World Team Sports, Wounded Warrior Project and Team Red White and Blue.  In her spare time she enjoys sled hockey, kayaking, cycling and is always willing to try new adventures.
